![]() ![]() I thought to combine these with something like Bxh2+ Kxh2 Qc7+ Kg1 but then I noticed that White still had enough defenders on the bishop. This one I saw and I noticed two things: first that there's a check with Bxh2, and second that the bishop attacking the queen on e7 might be somewhat vulnerable. It took me about 3 minutes to see it, calculate the variations, look for any defense I missed and double check everything. That one was pretty easy for me, borderline too easy actually. And if instead Bd3+ Ka1, then Qxd4 because the bishop is interfering with the queen's defense. ![]() ![]() Then I saw if Qxd3, then the queen is no longer covering the c1 square so after Rc1+ Rxc1 Qxd3+ Ka1 Qxd4 is winning. Right away, the move Bd3+ jumps out at me. But while some of the problems I'm able to get fairly easily, there's also a lot that just seem way beyond me.įor example, two of the problems I did today: I knew I'd have some difficulty with the problems seeing as I was at the lower end of the intended rating range. I picked up 1001 Chess Exercises for Club Players the other day. I've gotten a few Chessable courses and have been doing a bunch of tactics to try shake some of the rust off. I'm 1700 on Lichess Rapid right now, and I joined a club recently, I don't have a rating at the moment, but they've paired me against 1500 rated USCF players who I've been at least equally matched against. But I've been getting back into serious studying for the past month. I've been on a hiatus for the past 2 years, just playing casual blitz here and there. I started playing Chess seriously around 4 years ago. Please continue to give us your feedback and suggestions on how we can help make /r/chess better for everyone.
